Now entering the 40 year in the trade! Proudly a member of the Construction Association Of PEII started in the masonry trade as a labourer during the summer months following Grade 10. After high school graduation I began Holland College’s 1 year bricklaying program in the fall of 1985. Having completed the course early, I started to work in the trade in April, of 1986 and have worked at it for the past 35 years. Apprenticing with a few different companies, I was fortunate to also learn the plaster trade, and tile-setting trade under a talented European tradesman.
After successful completion of the apprenticeship program, I successfully challenged the Red Seal Exam and earned the designation of Red Seal Bricklayer, and successfully completed courses from Wood Energy Technology Transfer Inc. recieving the WETT certification. This allows me to perform WETT inspections on wood-burning appliances.
I have represented PEI on the Board of the Atlantic Harmonization Project, which streamlined and combined the apprenticeship program among the four Atlantic Provinces. I have also represented PEI in Ottawa on the questions for the apprenticeship skills questions for testing.
Having worked in large commercial and industrial masonry construction, as well as residential work from chimney construction and repair, stainless steel and clay liners, brick veneer, stonework, plaster repairs and heritage restoration, I have the experience required for your project.
